Growth of master-planned communities in Montgomery County stretched the existing capacity of Montgomery High School. To relieve overcrowding, the district initiated plans for a 2-story school dedicated to 9th grade students, complete with its own gymnasium, kitchen and cafetorium.
Brookstone constructed a new 2-story steel structure covered in red brick compatible with the adjacent high school. Terrazzo flooring on the ground level gives the school a retro aesthetic. A grand stair at the entry has Terrazzo treads and risers, stainless steel rail and plastic laminate panels on the wall for durability. A connection between the 9th grade and high school buildings provides security and protection from weather.
