Funded by a bond election, this combination community center and library was a strategic move by the City of Dayton to attract people and industry to their Liberty County community. Brookstone built two separate entrances and parking areas to accommodate library patrons on one side, and visitors to the Dayton Community Development Corporation and the Chamber of Commerce on the other.
A brick exterior lends small-town appeal, while metal canopies give a modern vibe. Clerestory windows and exposed wood trusses flood library spaces with natural light. A 12,000 sf banquet hall and kitchen are available as rental for special events and provide the setting for ongoing activities from yoga to bridge to dominoes.
