Advancing League City’s mission to expand youth and adult sports as well as senior programs, Brookstone built a recreation center and sports fields. The recreation center includes multi-purpose and meeting rooms, locker rooms and administration space. Its gymnasium is actually one huge room, partitioned into two full-court gymnasiums, separated by a full-height and full-width partition that folds vertically up to roof. The gym features clerestory windows and hurricane-rated glass.
A LEED consultant assisted with sustainable design concepts including community gardening beds and an above-ground water storage tank connected to a 40,000-gallon underground tank for site irrigation. Site work for the soccer fields (three full-sized and one practice field), children’s playground and walking trails included extensive drainage.
